The 57-year-old was left frustrated following http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127’s 2-2 draw against OGC Nice at Stade Velodrome on Sunday
Les Phoceens wasted a golden opportunity to clinch top spot after they were held to a 2-2 draw by an impressive Nice side at their own backyard. The Rhone giants looked on course to register their 8th win of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign but
Les Aiglons struck in the dying moments of the game to deny the hosts all three points.
OM created a number of goalscoring opportunities during the game and should have scored more than two goals. However, Nice were very impressive on Sunday and a point away from home would be considered as a positive result for the visitors.
Marseille coach, Elie Baup is not happy with the late goal his side conceded at Stade Velodrome, and feels that they deserved more than just a point from Sunday’s game. While talking to reporters, the Frenchman stated that Olympique de Marseille were the
better side on the pitch and they should have scored more goals to put the game to bed.
"Personally, I am feeling frustrated after that. It wasn't a week for us to close out games.”
Talking about his team’s performance, the former Nantes coach said that Marseille were impressive in the first half and they played some quality football on the pitch. However, coach is not pleased with the missed chances and feels that players need to be
more clinical in front of goal.
“In the first half, as usual, we played football and created things but to win matches you need to translate that play into goals and we did so but only once in the period.”
The 57-year-old added that apart from their finishing, Marseille have been impressive this season but they need to learn to finish off moves.
“We need to be more clinical in front of goal and learn to finish off moves. For now, we are good when it comes to constructing things but we need to be more decisive in both boxes."
Olympique de Marseille will take on Bordeaux in their next game of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign.
