The 57-year-old is happy with Les Phoceens’ showing against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday and is pleased with the draw
The first Clasico of the season was as thrilling as promised as both sides settled for a hard-fought draw at Stade Velodrome.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 tried their level best against the cash-laden club from Paris but failed to nick a win at their own backyard.
However, coach, Elie Baup is pleased with his side’s showing against the Ligue 1 heavy spenders.
Talking to reporters after the Clasico, the Frenchman stated that the players played with a game plan and they successfully stopped PSG from talking control of the game.
The coach added that Marseille showed what they are capable of and players played with a lot of determination showing great commitment, which is a pleasing factor.
"We tried to stick to what we know how to do and that is to play with a lot of determination and commitment.”
Praising his players, Baup said that everyone on the pitch gave their best and he couldn’t have asked for more. First half was very intense with all goals coming in the first half of the game, and coach is pleased with the way his players handled the situation.
“I haven't got much to criticise my players for, in fact they gave it their all. The first half was of a high level with technique, tactics and commitment.”
Referring to Marseille 4-1 defeat against Valenciennes last week, Elie Baup said that OM didn’t let that thrashing haunt them, and players played with great composure and confidence on Sunday.
“We got thrashed at Valenciennes and manage to lift our heads up after that.”
The coach feels that Marseille were wasteful on few occasions and they missed some good opportunities in the game. However, Baup is pleased with the draw against their arch-rivals, and has backed his team to continue playing like that in the upcoming games.
“We could have finished off some moves better, they're the strongest opponents we've faced all season and we stood up to them.”
Olympique de Marseille face Troyes in their next Ligue 1 encounter.
