2.If you attend a Junior college and have more than 12 units is it considered to be a full year of eligibility at a NCAA D1 or D2 school? (even if you are not on the volleyball team or decide to red-shirt)

  1. The answer to question #1 looks like no if you play anything except intramurals in junior college or college.  Below is the quote of the rules from the USAV web site. It looks like reckless_abandon18 has answered part 2 correctly.

That the USAV Operating Code, Article VIII.C.2 has been amended to read: “Junior Olympic

Volleyball Player.  Registration required of individuals participating in a USA Junior Olympic

Volleyball Championship or other event sanctioned by the Corporation and issued to a player who

has not participated in a club or varsity volleyball program for a university, college, community

    college, or junior college who

    a. 18 years of age or younger on September 1st of the current season; or

    b. 19 years of age or younger on September 1st of the current season and is a high school student

during some part of the current academic year.  This registration shall be reviewed annually

through the Membership Organizations approved to administer Junior Olympic Volleyball

programs.  If the player is otherwise eligible, this registration may be renewed.”

  2. we have a walk on on our team that attended and played volleyball at a JC for two years. she is allowed two more years of play at our D1 school.

12 credits is the minimum number necessary to play on any D1 team.

bottom line is, you can play a total of four years at a D1/D2 college.

how you choose todivide those between JC adn University is up to you; and a redshirt year does not count as one of the four.

email me if that doesnt help. as for your first question, i would email the ncaa clearinghouse to be sure; i have never heard of it happening so i cant help.
