Elimar Barrios occupies Women’s 50m backstroke gold: Day three – Venezuela Open Championships
Elimar Barrios of MASBO occupied gold medal of the Women’s 50m backstroke in the 14 and above age class on third day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 19.
The 20-year-old Barrios stayed considerably ahead of her challengers from the start and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal of the discipline.
With her epic pace and commendable start, she enjoyed a lead of half body length over her closest challenger and tapped the finishing end for the crown of the event by reporting a time of 30.89 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Maria L Ramirez of HHISP, who remained 0.62 seconds apart and secured silver medal of the event by reporting an effort of 31.51 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Nayrelis Caceres of SALIA, who remained 0.72 seconds slower from overwhelming her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for bronze medal with the timing of 32.23 seconds.
Fourth spot of the event was secured by Thalia Colmenares of CABOG, who remained just 0.07 seconds slower from securing her spot on the podium and completed her sprint with an effort of 32.30 seconds.
Colmenares was chased by Yolanda Cana of DELMA, who stayed 0.33 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and tapped  the wall with an effort of 32.63 seconds for fifth position.
The fifth fastest finisher was stayed by Yoidhery Farinas of MAXVI, who was just one stroke slower from her preceding swimmer and surfaced on the finishing wall for sixth position by clocking an effort of 32.70 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Wilmary Gonzalez of NSCMI, who remained just an inch slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 32.72 seconds.
Gonzalez was followed by Marcela Gramcko of PNUDC, who stayed 0.12 seconds apart and finished her swim in eighth best place by submitting a time of 32.84 seconds.
In addition, the session came to an end after the conclusion of all swimming events in Men and Women’s corner while the position holders raked medals and accolades after the session.
