Elisa Di Francisca once again on top in Women’s Foil Individual Rankings: Fencing News
The 2010 World Champion, Elisa Di Francisca, from Italy, attained the top place of the Women’s Foil Individual Rankings. The International Fencing Federation, FIE, updated the rankings after the World Cup, which took place in the month of June 2011.
Last month, three-time Olympic Champion, Valentina Vezzali, of Italy was on the top of the Foil rankings. She had 321 points at that time and there was a gap of only 26 points between Vezzali and Francisca’s position. Although Elisa dropped in semi-final
round and ended at the third spot for a brone medal in the competition, but her excellent performance took her on the top of the Foil World Rankings. Elisa got 20 points in the competition and the overall calculation took her on the top.
Korean Hyun Hee Nam retained her third position this month. She was having 290 points previous month, but now she has 238 points. There are no big gaps of points in the rankings for each fencer. Moreover, Italy and Russia grabbed most of the top ten
places. Italy grabbed four places in the top 10 list, while Russia grabbed three places in the top 10 list. There will be several changes in the rankings due to minor gaps in the points.
Elisa is the most tremendous fencer of the Italian history and she is dreaming of winning the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Her performance also seemed to be raising her momentum in the competitions. The top 10 Women’s Foil Fencers, till

3. Hyun Hee Nam from Korea with 238 points
4. Arianna Errigo from Italy with 235 points
5. Hee Sook Jeon from Korea with 150 points
6. Corinne Maitrejean from France with 133 points
7. Eugyenia Lamonova from Russia with 132 points
8. Inna Deriglazova from Russia with 122 points
9. Ilaria Salvatori from Italy with 115 points
10. Aida Shanaeva from Russia with 114 points
