Goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eliseu-c12315 and Pato meant that the spoils were shared by Malaga and AC Milan on Tuesday night at the San Siro stadium.
Malaga coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, went for the win as he set up a full- strength squad in the UEFA Champions League clash against the former European champions. As soon as the match started, Malaga took control of the game and started
creating chances.
The Andalusians were in total control of the game as they dominated possession and pushed forward. The Italians pinned themselves to the backline and refused to allow Malaga taking the lead.
However, the domination of the game by the Boquerones did not cause them to create real chances for breaking the deadlock.
Eventually, the breakthrough moment came for the visitors when a sublime Isco pass was received by Eliseu who did not hesitate to put the ball past Milan goal keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Abbiati-c9046.
The Rossoneri’s started the second-half brightly. They tried to push forward and in the process created some real chances, but they just couldn’t get the best of the Malaga goal keeper.
Finally the efforts of Milan paid off on the 73th minute when Pato’s header found the back of the net and earned a crucial point for Italian side.
Last night’s draw for Malaga was enough to see them qualify for the next round in Europe’s most prestigious competition, the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the goal scorer of the night for Malaga, Eliseu, could not wait to share his excitement. He admitted that it was a dream for him to play Milan at the San Siro stadium in the Champions League.
It was a surreal moment for him. He mentioned the fact that he played for Malaga in the second division and last night he was playing against the Italian giants, Milan, in the Champions League.
“I played for Malaga in the Segunda,” he told reporters after the game. “And now I'm going one-on-one with Milan at San Siro.”
“It's just a dream come true.”
Surely last night was a dream come true for both Eliseu and Malaga. This is the first time ever the Andalusians have qualified for the last 16 in the Champions League.
