  1. i think one of the reasons mary I didnt like her was because she was the prettier sister

  2. No, she was not considered attractive, especially towards the end, she was balding and her teeth were rotten, but still expected compliments on her beauty.

  3. I do!!!!!!!!!!

  4. She certainly appears to have been quite attractive as a young woman, at least she appears so in her portraits.  In 1562, she had smallpox, but although she recovered, her face was heavily pockmarked, and she had lost much of her hair.  She wore heavy makeup and wigs afterwards.  The portraits painted thereafter still show a handsome woman.

A contemporary description of her by Sir John hayward says:

"She was slender and straight, her hair was inclined to pale yellow, her forehead large and fair, her eyes lively and sweet, but short-sighted, her nose somewhat rising in the middle; her countenance was somewhat long, but yet of admirable beauty, in a most delightful composition of majesty and modesty.'

  5. she was the queen...she could have looked like a giraffe and still thought to be beautiful.

  6. Well, she was considered rather handsome, but not striking or conventionally beautiful. Her skin was actually "olive" (inherited from Anne Boleyn), but she wore a lot of powder on her face. She inherited Henry VIII's aquiline nose, but her figure was slender and tall. Foreign ambassadors also said that Elizabeth had beautiful eyes. So all in all, she was probably attractive but not beautiful, to 16th century eyes or modern eyes.

  7. She wasn't considered conventionally attractive, but she wasn't ugly or plain. Anne Boleyn wasn't exactly beautiful either but it was her mannerisms, confidence and wit that got her the crown.

Elizabeth was considered attractive into her final years because of how she carried herself and her slender youth-like figure that she'd always maintained. Many people saw an ethereal quality in the way she presented herself which I can imagine was quite engaging. She was also extremely intelligent, moreso than the vast majority she held at court, which to the people that mattered, would have been an attractive asset.

  8. No, she was not considered pretty. People loved her but just didn't find her attractive. She had a warm personality but looks is the area she lacked in. A few men fell for her but it didn't work out. She fell for more men that actually fell for her so she just learned to keep her feelings to herself and keep her pride to rule her country. (:

  9. When she was young, she was considered attractive. As she aged, she adapted a very stylized, artificial, bizarre look: white lead makeup which not only was dangerous, but cracked and emphasized wrinkles and imperfections, and a shaved forehead. Back then,a sign of intelligence was attributed to having a large forehead.

  10. She was an ugly ginger *****!

  11. No, she was pretty homely. She didn't get Anne's good looks.
