Eljero Elia wanted to move to Arsenal before Juventus – Premier League Update
Following Arsenal’s transfer activity over the last two days of the transfer window, it became apparent that the Gunners were quite busy looking to land players.
However, Juventus’s latest signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eljero-Elia-c12318 has now gone on to reveal that he was one of the prime targets for the Gunners as well.
When talking about all that took place prior to his move to the Old Lady of Italian football, he is quoted to have said: "My agent did have contact with Arsenal, but it took too long. I had no contact with Arsene Wenger"
However, he soon turned his attention back to Juventus and admitted that he had always been a fan of Juventus and Del Piero in particular, as he went on to add: "I used to have a jersey of Del Piero when I was a little kid"
"I was also a big fan of Fabrizio Ravanelli. Juventus have a great history and it's amazing that I'll be playing alongside a legend like Del Piero"
Elia then revealed that it was the plans that Juventus had for him that helped him make the move. According to the winger, the club were looking to take advantage of all his positives and that is something that he is looking forward to.
When talking about his new manager and how he is going to be used at the club, Elia is quoted to have said: "He wants to use me on the left wing and wants me to make a lot of individual actions. I have to run at my direct opponent in order to create dangerous
situations"
"We have midfielders with excellent passing skills who can set me up and also have a striker who is very strong in the air and knows how to find the net."
Despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 not signing Elia, it just goes to show that the team has really gone on to change their stance on transfers. The team seems to now be looking to bringing in players who have proven that they have ability to mix it up and compete at the highest
of levels.
Nonetheless, it seems like a smarter move on Elia’s part to have opted to move to Juventus instead of Arsenal, considering the fact that the team is already overflowing with wingers and attackers.
At the same time, if Arsenal did get the player, they would have had a real dilemma on their hands, when selecting their starting line up to take to the field.
