Elke Graham captures the Women’s 400m freestyle crown: Mare Nostrum, Barcelona
Elke Graham of Australia won the Women’s 400m freestyle title against Claudia Poll of Costa Rica and Laura Montala of Spain at the 2011 Mara Nostrum Barcelona Championships in Spain, on June 4.
The Aussie swimmer claimed the golden crown in the corresponding meet with a victorious time of 4 minutes and 21.25 seconds. Graham was pleased with her spotless performance in the 400m freestyle final.
Elke Graham is a professional swimmer of Australia, who five silver medals in mega swimming events including the 2000 Olympic Games, 2002 Commonwealth Games, 2002-2003 World Championships and 2002 Pan Pacific Championships. Like other swimmers, Elke Graham’s
ultimate goal of life is to win her first ever Olympic gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Placed second in the Women’s 400m freestyle final was Claudia Poll of Costa Rica with a winning time of 4 minutes and 22.39 seconds, while Laura Montala of Spain wound up third in time of 4 minutes and 22.88 seconds.
Claudia Poll is a well-known swimmer of Costa Rica, who won her first Olympic gold medal in the Women’s 200m freestyle final during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Besides, she nabbed two bronze medals in the Women’s 200m and 400m freestyle finals at
the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
At the 1995 World Championships (SC), Poll grabbed two golden crowns in the Women’s 200m and 400m freestyle events in Rio de Janeiro. She claimed two gold titles in the corresponding swimming events at the 1997 World Championships (SC) in Gothenburg. She
also snared one gold medal in the Women’s 200m freestyle final at the 1998 World Championships (SC). Additionally, Poll has won two gold medals in the Women’s 200m and 400m freestyle finals at the 1997 Pan America Games in Fukuoka.
She has been training hard in her swimming styles and the athlete is desperate to give her best performance at the upcoming Shanghai World Championships and next year’s Olympic Games in London. Poll claimed that she is really in good form and confident to
perform well in future events.
