Ella Eastin captures Women’s 400 yard IM gold – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Ella Eastin of Una SCAL-CA captured gold medal of the Women’s 400 yard Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Friday, December 7.
Eastin, who dominated the playoff of the 16-lap discipline, lived up to the expectations of her supporters by defending her spot in the final round.
With her invincible efforts in the distant event, Eastin enjoyed a prominent lead over her challengers and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 09.66 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Katelyn Miller of Firestone Akron, who was almost four seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 13.92 seconds.
Miller was traced by Hannah Moore of Raleigh Swimming, who was 1.58 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 15.50 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Hannah Burns of Gator Swim Club, who was 0.74 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 16.24 seconds for fourth place.
Burns was traced by Geordie Enoch of Eagle Swim Team, who was 0.57 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing blockade for fifth position by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 16.81 seconds.
Sixth spot of the discipline was obtained by Ally Howe of Palo Alto Stanford, who was 0.05 seconds apart and ended her race in a time of 4 minutes and 16.86 seconds.
Howe remained half body length ahead of Sydney Lofquist of Dayton Raiders-O, who ended her race in seventh place by posting an effort of 4 minutes and 18.46 seconds.
Lofquist was chased by Margaret D’Innocenzo of Crimson Aquatics, who was 2.13 seconds apart and emerged on the wall for eighth position with an effort of 4 minutes and 20.59 seconds.
Furthermore, Eastin was pleased with her notable form in the event and raked medal after the session.
