Ella Eastin wins Women’s 400 yard IM prelims – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Ella Eastin of Una SCAL-CA won the qualification rounds of Women’s 400 yard Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Friday, December 7.
The 15-year-old Eastin enjoyed a commendable lead over her closest swimmer as she transpired on the finishing end to seize the top qualification spot.
With her epic pace, she remained prominently ahead of her opponents and surfaced on the wall for first position with a timing of 4 minutes and 13.58 seconds.
Her gruelling effort remained almost two body lengths ahead of her closest competitor, Hannah Burns of Gator Swim Club, who surfaced on the finishing end for second position by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 15.34 seconds.
Burns was traced by Katelyn Miller of Firestone Akron, who was 0.19 seconds behind and settled on the wall for third position by clocking an effort of 4 minutes and 15.53 seconds.
Fourth spot of the discipline was obtained by Hannah Moore of Raleigh Swimming, who stayed half a body length behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 16.15 seconds.
Moore was chased by Sydney Lofquist of Dayton Raiders-O, who was 1.01 seconds behind and hit the finishing end for fifth place by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 17.16 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Ally Howe of Palo Alto Stanford, who was 1.39 seconds behind and concluded her race in a time of 4 minutes and 18.55 seconds.
Howe was followed by Margaret D’Innocenzo of Crimson Aquatics, who was 0.05 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for seventh place by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 18.60 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was obtained by Geordie Enoch of Eagle Swim Team, who remained 0.35 seconds behind and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 18.95 seconds.
In addition, Eastin received a huge round of applause from the audience and stated that she would try her best to please her supporters by doing the same in playoff.
