Ellen Fullerton pockets Women’s 400m IM gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Ellen Fullerton of Chandler, QLD pocketed gold medal the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on initial day of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Wednesday, September 12.
The 19-year-old Fullerton overpowered her opponents in a comfortable manner as she earned her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With her immaculate efforts, she remained prominently ahead of her following swimmers and showed her urgency towards the finishing blockade for gold medal by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 34.48 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Tianni Gilmour of Pelican Waters, who suffered a loss of 5.30 seconds and stepped on the finishing end as second position holder by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 39.78 seconds.
Gilmour was followed by Jackie Staples of Norwood, SA, who stayed only 0.12 seconds behind and completed the podium by securing bronze medal of the race with a timing of 4 minutes and 39.90 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Alanna Bowles of Rocky City, who remained nearly three body lengths behind and settled on the wall as fourth best finisher by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 42.68 seconds.
Fifth best qualification spot of the event was obtained by Hayley Baker of Melbourne VIC, who stayed just half a body length apart and surfaced on the wall as fifth best finisher by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 43.12 seconds.
Baker was chased by Meg Bailey of Hunter, NSW, who stayed 0.50 seconds away from her and ended her race in sixth best place by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 43.62 seconds.
Subsequently, Bailey remained 0.40 seconds ahead of Aisling Scott of Nudgee Brothers, who occupied seventh position of the event by posting a time of 4 minutes and 44.02 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Holly Brettle of Tigersharks, VIC, who earned eighth position of the event by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 46.38 seconds.
Furthermore, Fullerton expressed happiness after her victory in the race and raked medal after the session.
