Ellerstina Etiqueta Negra clobber Estancia Grande Sancor Seguros 17-12 in Tortugas Open
After an outstanding show, the team of Ellerstina Etiqueta Negra emerged victorious over Estancia Grande Sancor Seguros 17-12 in the round match of the Tortugas Open, Emilio de Anchorena Cup Grand Prix Audi that took place at the Tortugas Country Club in
Buenos Aires.
As per the expectations, there has been nothing changed in the attacking style of Ellerstina which played a fast paced game in order to establish their dominance over the field. Though the line-up has been changed after the induction of two new players,
it did not impact much on the game-style. They did take their opponents in a superb way which enthralled the spectators.
Though it was their first game in the tournament, they did not feel any pressure and marked a convincing victory in order to keep their hopes alive for winning the title. On the other side, the team Estancia Grande has lost their second consecutive match
in the tournament. They lost to Indios Chapaleufu II in the event-opening fixture.
The new line-up of the Ellerstina, the defending Champions of the Triple Crown, did not miss their former players Juan Martin Nero and Pablo MacDonough who are currently donning the colours for La Dolfina Dubai. The new inductions including Ignacio Heguy
and Nicolas Pieres were at their best and showed an outstanding performance in the match. Though Nicolas is quite young, it was his brothers Gonzalo Pieres and seasoned polo pro Facundo Pieres who helped him make an impressive debut into the Triple Crown.
He played wide on the field where he proved his worth for the mega tournament.
On the other hand, it was more of a character-building competition than a polo match for Estancia Grande. One of the many failures of the team was unconnected approaches while chasing the ball from one half to the other. Lucas Monteverde failed completely
to show his worth on the field while his team-mate Bartolome Castagnola was not quite different to the former one. He was playing at the defensive position but failed to safeguard the team from making goals.
All the players from Ellerstina moved instantly throughout the field and made lengthy rides to take their contenders down. Ellerstina dominated the game with their aggressive play and quick pace. After the first three chukkas of play, the Ellerstina side
held the ball under their grip and led the score at 8-3 with four frames left to play.
Facundo Pieres displayed game-winning performance with many penalty conversions. From the other side, Sebastian Merlos and Agustin Merlos showed their worth and brought their side on the scorecard. The team of Ellerstina won the match 17-12.
