Elliot Saltman cards a 71 after round 2 of the Africa Open
The second round of the Africa Open 2011 ended yesterday with Elliot Saltman unblemished at 7th place.
The 28-year-old golfer managed to display a solid performance at East London and made use of his unyielding form to climb to the top of the leader board. Saltman appeared at the tournament after earning his card from the European
Tour Qualifying round held in Spain.
As for the Africa Open, the Scott grabbed a relentless second place after carding a 67 with a 6 under par in round one.
The golfer began the first round from the ninth. He recorded a two under par and added one massive eagle for his competition. The marvellous ‘better’ was achieved at the par 5, hole number three of the East London GC. More specifically,
the third was Saltman’s 13th hole before he added two more birdies in his score card.
“The Eagle was because of the 5 iron I used. I hit it stiff” said the Aegon player.
Brother of Lloyd Saltman, the golfer said that his overall game had been very nice since he hit a total of 15 greens in regulations.
Saltman initiated the second round of the tournament with an incredible birdie which made way for the 28-year-old golfer to adorn his scorecard with 5 birdies and fortunately only 3 bogeys.
The second round ended with a minus 8 for the Scottish golfer who played a 35 outbound and a 36 Inbound.
According to statistics, he played a much better Round 1 as compared to the second. He scored a 67 in round 1 while the second round ended with a 71 that is 4 notches above the previous play.
Overall, Day 2 handed the golfer birdies from hole number 1, 3, 8, 11 and then finally the 14th. He played a total of 138 strokes and collected three bogeys from hole number 5, 17 and the last 18th hole.
His brother was also at the fields and is currently at T42. Lloyd Saltman ended the second round of the Africa Open with a total of 144 strokes and a 76 at the end.
“We both had a good start, considering our break since the South African Open” said the 25-year-old sibling.
Eliot Saltman will begin the third round of the Africa Open at 11:35 while his brother would be teeing off at 09:10 GMT.
