Ellis and Jennings star as Milwaukee Bucks drop the Brooklyn Nets 97-88 on road: NBA Recap
The Brooklyn Nets slump continued on Sunday as they lost 88-97 to Milwaukee Bucks, dropping their fourth game in a row.
The Nets were sluggish in the first three quarters and shot a partly 32 percent heading into the fourth. The Bucks had piled a 29 point advantage at one stage before the Nets outscored them in the fourth quarter for some face saving.
Brandon Jennings was red hot on the night. He posted 26 points, dished out 7 assists and made 5 steals to lead the Bucks and was well supported by Monta Ellis who collected 24 points. Marquis Daniels finished off with 13 points
and 7 rebounds for the night.
"Playing one of the best point guards, like Deron Williams, you can't let him get into his comfort zone. My job tonight was to pressure him as much as I could." Jennings who helped hold Williams to 8 of 19 shooting from the floor
said after tha game.
Deron Williams paced the Nets with 18 points and 8 assists; Gerald Wallace scored a double-double with 16 points and as many rebounds while Marshon Brooks came off the bench to add 14 points.
The Brooklyn Nets got off to a great start to the game and were up 11-2 after a Reggie Evans layup. Jennings nailed a three pointer in the early going of the period to make his intentions clear. The Bucks then went on rampage with
a 13 point unanswered run which landed them a 19-13 advantage. There was no looking back after that and the Bucks did not let the Nets get ahead the entire game. They were leading by 25-18 at the end of the period.
C.J. Watson scored one from downtown to reduce the deficit to 24-28 early in the second period but the Bucks pulled ahead at break neck speed. Milwaukee were up 39-29 at one stage and closed the period with a 8-0 run to extend
their lead to 48-31 by halftime.
Milwaukee kept on increasing the lead in the third quarter in front of the Brooklyn home fans and had pushed their advantage to 75-55 by the end of the period.
The hosts looked much sharper in the fourth period and started slashing the Bucks advantage. Gerald Wallace made two back to back deuces to reduce the deficit down to 70-82 and a Humphries dunk shot, with 3:03 on the regulation,
made it a 6 point game on 79-85. The Bucks however kept their cool and closed out the game.
