Sweden International, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rasmus-Elm-c30628 was unable to make an appearance for AZ Alkmaar at the weekend due to the birth of his daughter. His absence also meant that he missed out on the opportunity to impress the Liverpool scouts, who made a visit to Rotterdam
to watch his game.
Elm’s contract with his present club is set to expire next year, a factor which will likely draw interest from a number of outfits, in order to sign him for free next season.
A team of Liverpool scouts had reportedly made a visit to see him perform against Feyenoord on Sunday, but the player pulled out of the game at the eleventh hour, after his girlfriend gave birth to a baby girl.
However, Elm mentioned that he was not aware that the Reds had sent outriders in order to evaluate his performance.
He told the reporters, “I didn’t know Liverpool [scouts] were in the stadium. But if so, too bad for them.”
The 24-year old midfielder signed a four year deal with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015, and is considered as a free-kick expert. In
total, he has netted 18 goals for Alkmaar.
When asked about his possible move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 next year, Elm responded by saying that he had currently set his focus on the upcoming Euro 2012, and has the intention of serving out his contract with Alkmaar.
“I want to play as well as possible and will start thinking about my future after the Euros. When the focus on playing is gone, I can start thinking about my future.” He added.
The midfielder also mentioned that he had no regrets of missing out on the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 on Sunday, despite the presence of the Liverpool contingent, and that he needed to be with his girlfriend and daughter.
“There was no other option for me. End of discussion. There will always be a new match, but not a new first daughter. Everybody can say or think what they want but I wanted to be with my girlfriend and daughter.”
