Elna 7000 computerized sewing machine

Question

whwn you turn on the machine it goes thru a calibration sequence,the needle works fine,the plate does not work all the time[intermittent].the stepper motors seem fine[lots of torque].it seems to be electronic nor mechanical.   please advise.     thank you
