Eloise Healey still number one at the English U15 Championship
The second round of the English U15 Championship is over and the top most position remains undisturbed. Eloise Healey still leads the event.
Eloise Healey started the tournament on a very positive note. The first round was played under great weather and Healey took full advantage of the conditions. She scored a great 70 points and was placed in the first position.
When the next round started, the weather turned worse. The winds picked up, making the aiming of the strokes a very difficult task. Still, Eloise Healey managed to come through and scored another 78 points.
At the end of the first round, she had a lead of five strokes that appeared enough for seeing Healey through the event. However, the second round saw some great play from other players who improved their scores and came very close to Healey.
Two of the players who will pose great difficulties to Healey are Alice Hewson and Annabel Bailey. These players are now at 151 and 152 respectively.
Healey’s five stroke lead is now reduced to just a single stroke. This means that the second seeded player Sophie Madden could upset the rankings easily.
Still, Healey is not concerned. Talking about the game after the second round, she said, “I’m happy with my score today. It was difficult to judge the wind and it was a decent score considering the conditions”.
The next player on the rankings table is Sophie Madden. She comes from West Essex and has played great golf in this tournament. She is just a stroke behind Healey and the third round could prove to be her round.
She was very satisfied with her performance so far and is looking forward to the third round, where she will have a great chance of moving up to the first place.
She commented on the second round’s game and said, “It was much harder today but I think I played quite well and holed some decent putts”.
Many observers say that the third round will prove to be decisive for all the players. The field is now reduced to 36 players.
