Els looking for a competitive edge before the Scottish Open
The stage is set for the best in the world of golf to go head to head to win one of the most prestigious events on the European Tour. The 2012 Scottish Open is going to be held at the famous Castle Stuart Golf Links. The Open will start on the 12th
of July 2012 and end on the 15th of July 2012.
One player who is going to be in the spot light is Ernie Els, as he is making his comeback after the US Open.
In the event, he finished among the top10. He ended the tournament with 4-over par at the ninth spot and was 3 strokes away from the leader, Webb Simpson.
The South African Professional golfer is looking to improve his game and practicing to appear in the next week’s Championship. At the same time, he is warning his rivals not to count him out for the race of the Scottish Open title.
Els has not played golf since the US Open. He told the media that he has been in London for the past couple of weeks, where he did not get a chance to play golf due to the unfavourable weather conditions.
The three-time major winner has come to Scotland to practice in the Castle Stuart to practice before the two events.
In an interview he said, “So I need to just put a score on a card basically. That's why I came up here and tried and get some rust off the game. Hopefully things will go okay and I can have a good tournament, but it's really to come in and enjoy Castle Stuart
- I really liked it last year”.
“Obviously playing tournament golf is a different level of sharpness; you’ve got to be at, and hopefully I can be there. I'm going to play the pro am this afternoon and I've been practicing, so I’m looking forward to a good week,” he added.
The 42-year-old is ready to play after a mid-year break. This break can be the key to his success in the tournaments lying ahead.
