  1. I always took it to mean that he was in a controlling relationship with a partner that was into high fashion living, and he was a more simple man with desires of low pressure living. Hence "You can't plant me in your penthouse, I'm going back to my plow, back to the howling old owl in the woods, hunting the horned back toad. Oh I've finally decided my future lies beyond the yellow brick road". I think the yellow brick road symbolizes the path to (or away in his case) from aristocratic life. The reference to the yellow brick road comes from The Wizard of OZ where everything was supposed to be perfect at the end of the road.
