Elusive Kate’s return to British racing through the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes star studded with jockey, Frankie Dettori
Trainer, John Gosden has covered ground for the Group 1 Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes (British Champions Series) by entering Elusive Kate who will make her reappearance through the race today, and the recent Group 2 winner, Joviality. The mile race at Newmarket
on Friday, 13th July will see the unquestionable favourite, Golden Lilac, giving a hard time to the other ten three-year and above contenders.
The highly likely trainer to win the £90,736 prize money is, A. Fabre. Despite the undisputed dominance of his four-year-old bay filly, Golden Lilac, the team will need to look out for Elusive Quality’s three-year-old daughter. She landed two graded races
in her juvenile season and had two additional lined up, completing a string of four successes in a row.
The three-year-old bay filly cleared her maiden on 15th June, 2011 in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton over seven furlongs.
The favourite winner escaped missing the chance by a mere head’s difference.
Foaled by mare, Gout De Terroir in 2009, the three-year-old made the most out of the Prix Six Perfections (Listed Race) (2YO Fillies) on 30th July, 2011 at Deauville. She took over the seven furlong track in partnership with jockey, Olivier Peslier.
Getting defeated by 1 ½ lengths, and settling as the runner-up was, Pestagua.
Third chance after the back-to-back and the fourth outing of the career was in graded company for the Teruya Yoshida owned. Elusive Kate was the favourite winner of the Group 3 Prix Du Calvados – Haras Des Capucines on 20th August, 2011 at Deauville
over seven furlongs.
It was a comfortable finishing for the winner who broke out of the first stall and won due to the 1 1/2 lengths that went in her favour.
The next graded success of the American bay filly was shared with the highly capable rider, William Buick. They won the Group 1 Total Prix Marcel Boussac – Criterium Des Pouliches on 2nd October, 2011 at Longchamp over a mile. It was by the margin
of three lengths that the duo dodged, Fire Lily, in the runner-up’s slot.
The only attempt in her homeland, the USA, turned out to be catastrophic as the Clovelly Farms bred ended eighth in the Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at the Churchill Downs on 4th November, 2011 over a mile.
The last time that Elusive Kate raced at a British race course was while breaking her maiden. After three successful races in France and a loss in America, the three-year-old has a chance to put forth the improved form that she must have established due
to the extensive exposure and lay-off.
The comeback race will see her riding in the capable hands of none other than the phenomenal rider, Frankie Dettori. The 20 to 1 entry will take it from the fourth gate with Barefoot Lady on one side and Lay Time in the fifth stall.
