Elusivity to make the most out of the experience at Newmarket in the Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes (Listed Race)
The Class 1 Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes (Listed Race) will be held at Newmarket over six furlongs on Thursday, 19th April. Taking up the £18,714 challenge is a line-up of eleven three-year and older runners.
Among the entries, the only one with some extensive experience and exposure to Newmarket is Elusivity, Elusive City’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Tough Chic.
During the previous season, Elusivity raced thrice at Newmarket from 15th July 2011 to 26th August 2011. The first two tries resulted in fourth positions while the third attempt translated into a victory.
On 15th July, Elusivity, the 9/4 joint favourite, ended fourth in the Walker Transport Handicap over seven furlongs. The race was won by Sacrosanctus while the other joint favourite, Romantic Wish, parked in as the runner up.
Chokidar settled third behind the winner.
Elusivity’s next race at Newmarket came in the form of Premier League Kick Off On Skybet Mobile Stakes (Handicap) on 13th August over six furlongs. Once more the outcome of the race for Elusivity was the same as he finished fourth behind the winner,
Bertiewhittle.
Elusive Prince settled as the runner up and was soon followed by Louis The Pious. The 13/2 favourite of the race, Blanche Dubawi, stationed twelfth on the field of seventeen.
Elusivity was the 3/1 joint favourite winner of the Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey Handicap on 26th August over six furlongs. He was paired up with Jamie Spencer and the two led the runner up of the race, Time Medicean, by a mere ¾ of a length.
Coming at terms with the third position behind the winner was Requisite.
The other joint favourite, Divine Call, was the last to conclude the race.
The four-year-old will race his seasonal debut today and has scored second in the last two races of the season that followed the victory at Newmarket. Competing with him are entries who have already struck their seasonal debut victories and enjoy a fair
extent of exposure to racing during the new season.
Fratellino and New Planet have posted victories recently and will be anxious to add further victorious strings. Elusivity will have to look out for them and will need to stay aware of those who are on for their seasonal debut after a long rest.
