Em chord question for guitar?

for the Em chord do u just strum the A and D strings?

and if not which strings?

  1. You strum all 6 strings since the strings you are not fretting (high E, B, G, and low E) all participate in the Em chord.


  2. It all depends on what you are playing.  I could play one chord several ways during the course of a song.  It's personal preference.  Generally, if you're just strumming, you would play all six strings.

  3. You play all of the strings, although when I'm playing I usually only play as far as B ... sounds just as good in my opinion!

  4. well if it's E MINOR you strum all the strings

    E(ddie) -- strummed

    A(te) -- strummed

    D(ynamite) -- strummed

    G(ood) -- strummed

    B(ye) -- strummed

    e(ddie) -- strummed



    (yeah i thought i would throw in my string memorization method in there too)

    and if it's E Major

    you strum the 2 strings that you already have your fingers on for E minor and then add your pointer finger and put it on the G string...and strum all the strings
