  1. This is a SCAM. The below links confirm various email scams hitting the internet. There is also an online form for the reporting of such. - (with links for your own country.) This site also gives excellent advice on what steps you can take to achieve a spam free inbox :

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

  2. Did you ever enter a lottery (that you paid for, or free for that matter) in which you solely used your e-mail address to identify yourself with?  Was it for 880,000 pounds/euros?

    I doubt it very much.

Learn to say SCAM.  Sorry bud, but your e-mail lotto winning is an invitation to give them your bank routing number and account number, SS#, your name (which probably was not mentioned in the e-mail), etc.  The last thing any national lottery is going to do is give free money away to some e-mail address.  Lotteries are run to make money - the enticement to getting people to give the gov't body running the lottery in question is the possibility that the player will win more in return.  They don't give away money for free - at least not in lotteries.  If you can fill out the proper forms, meet all of their standards, or you know someone on the inside (aka corruption) then maybe a gov't will give you money, but it won't happen because of your e-mail address.

So, despite the promise of your email you're not rich.  But then again, by asking the question I am answering you shouldn't loose anything either.

Do a google search for "e-mail lottery scam" and (while your at it) "nigerian e-mail scam."

Remember, if it's too good to be true then it probably is false.

    Live and learn.
