Email looks like it's from my email address?

I have been receiving emails that look like they are being sent from my email however I have not been sending them. I actually had to block my own email address! Why is this happening and what can I do? Are other people most likely receiving these garbage emails "from me"? I use Windows Mail if this matters.

Many spammers "spoof" the from field to match the recipient's email address.   They run a script that automatically changes the "from" field to match the "to" field.  Just delete all the emails.

This is a trick the spam people use .. it seems your email got picked up by them .. its important that you dont click to open them if you dont know the subject line .. when you open the email it tells the spam sender that they have a correct and active email and they keep sending .. if you dont know the subject line just delete them without opening them, after a while you should see an improvement.
