  1. no, turning 18 will not make you an independent for financial aid purposes.  everyone is emancipated at 18, that is when you become an adult.  However, for financial aid purposes you need to provide your parents info until 24 years old.  check the fafsa website if you dont believe it.  getting married is different, you will be independent then and you and your spouse's income will be used to calculate your financial aid awards.

  2. Yes, you are considered independent and your income that you enter on the QR will indicate what money you will receive.

How much pell, sub and unsub loans.  You received the max in stafford loan for sub.  What about unsub that goes as high as $4000.   You can also apply for an alternative loan there are a list of granters.  One is Sallie Mae. Check out why you did not receive any unsub money did you make to much income?

  3. for college aid you are considered a dependent of your parents until you are 26 -- if you are married you exist as a non-dependent entity  -- marry money.
