When a person is embalmed, why is the blood flushed away. Couldn't it be checked out and the safe reused?

  1. No.  Once someone dies, their cells die as well, making the blood useless.  The blood just washed down the drain like any other waste and cannot be reused.

  2. They would have to take it out very quickly or just use the plasma for it to be usable.  Probably not worth the trouble since the guy died and there are usually other concerns.  They remove it so they can add formaldehyde or some other compound in the veins to reduce decomposition.
