  1. I would probably have said something like 'I'd be a bit of an idiot if I went around throwing myself against desks on purpose, wouldn't I?' I would just ignore any further comments and re-focus the class. She probably had a good laugh about it when she got home. Most experienced teachers have pretty thick skins.

  2. send him to the Principal

  3. The slightly evil part of me says let one of the girls in class who doesn't put up with boys' b.s. smack him on the back of the head and tell him to knock it off.

Of course, the responsible side says have a conversation with that young man about how his comment could be considered sexual harassment and could land him suspended or expelled from school if he says it to the wrong person.  Then write an office referral or threaten to call his mother and have him explain what he said. (The mom thing works with middle schoolers, anyway--No sixth grade boy wants to tell his mom what he was saying about s*x.)

  4. that boy is such an a**. The poor lady must have been mortified. If it happened to me I would have just said "that's enough blah blah.." w/e the kid's name was. That's what teachers say when they dont have a comeback..

  5. Since I am a teacher, I would have handled the situation a little bit different.  For one, I would not allow the class to take part in the situation.  Second, I would have a serious conversation with the student right away about his comment.

  6. I would hope to have a quick comeback, like "Ew. Gross. Of course not!" but other than that, you just have to ignore stuff like that and try to prevent it from happening again.  Maybe the next day, clarify that all backpacks need to be under desks for the safety of all, etc.

  7. A good teacher with a sense of humor will roll with it.  There are plenty of good comebacks she could have used "that's the closest you are ever going to get to set of these" "in your dreams" but in today's society her best option is to keep on going.  Then she can implement a "all book bags under the desk policy".

  8. Smack him and send him to the principal. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
