Embarrassed Patrick Kane vows to change lifestyle, stay focused -NHL Update
It took a while for Patrick Kane to sum it all up after his team, the Chicago Blackhawks, were reported to nearly trade their young forward due to having to apologise a number of times for his wreck less behaviour while partying over the offseason.
Pictures and videos of the 23-year-old were published all over the internet in recent months, creating an uproar around the National Hockey League (NHL) circles as critics termed Chicago a failure in able to contain and discipline their players.
Patrick Kane finally realised the consequences for his actions and decided to openly apologise himself and vow to improve his lifestyle, changing for the better.
Being one of the most widely recognised players in the NHL, not only due to winning the Stanley Cup championship back in 2010, but also because of his status as a performer in the league, Kane knows that he is always in the public eye.
"We all saw the photos. They were pretty embarrassing," Kane said. "And that's probably the biggest thing. Nothing illegal ever happened and I guess it was the offseason and you're trying to have a good time, but you've got to realize the spotlight you're
in no matter where you are. For me, the situation I'm in now, you've always got to act like someone's watching you no matter what you do and it's going to be put out there on the Internet or news blogs. That's the standpoint I'm taking."
Most of Kane’s fans are easily the younger generation that look up to the centre player as a role model and his recent behaviour has definitely been totally opposite to what parents would want their young children to look forward to.
"It's not who I want to be," Kane added. "I want to be somebody who can be a role model to kids and to everyone, for that matter.”
Kane is a former first overall draft pick by Chicago Blackhawks of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He had 66 points (23 goals, 43 assists) last season with a plus-minus rating of seven. It was his worst career performance by far and changing that around is the
need of the hour for sure.
