Embarrassed about tomorrow!

Question

Hi,

So tomorrow I have a urodynamic study being taken place. I am kind of scared/embarrassed because I will have a catheter inserted in. I am 15 years old and I am not to comfortable with someone looking down there. I don't know if I should trim or shave any of the hair, but I really don't want to have it done.

Any suggestions to get over this fear?

hey dont worry

the doctors have been in these situations before and will help you relax.  Just be yourself and dont worry - i wouldnt shave or trim.

Leave it as it is.

They see it everyday.

just take a shower the day before or after,

lol.

Its completely normal to be scared of such a thing.

Just when they have you lying down, you can keep ur legs closed until the doctor is ready.

You can ask for a girl doctor too

if they're knocking you out, you won't even know it was there or if they looked. and believe me doctors have inserted thousands of catheters and they're not going to judge your down there area or pick on it.

Chill out!!  You're going to be fine.  I don't like getting pap smears or having my doctor violently finger the h**l outta me to see how my baby's doing but you gotta do what you gotta do to stay healthy.  Don't be afraid of how you look down there, they've seen it ALL before, I promise you.  You aren't even a face to them, just another v****a to deal with lol.  Ask for a girl doctor too to eliminate some of the awkwardness.  You'll be just fine!  =]

It's normal to be nervous. They're not going to care what you look like "down there", I promise! Just try your hardest not think about it. If it helps, just tell yourself that they are only going to see "down there" one time and they'll probably forget about it in a few days. You'll be okay. Good luck!

dont worry honey, just clean yourself before you go, if you want to clean it up or shave thats ok too. when it comes to medical stuff they see that all the time. dont worry they are there to do their job. not look at you and make jokes. you will  be ok good luck honey and relax

well google that and there are websites where you can talk to a doctor and you remain anymaus (i probally spelled that wrong!) but ur identity remains a secret! it helps alot! i hope you get good reports and take care god bless you peace!

doctors are used to that .........uhmn its their job...........dnt shave it only give the doctors more questions

I would feel the same as you if I was in that situation. I wouldn't worry too much about how "it" looks, because the doctors should be used to seeing that stuff, but if it would make you feel more comfortable, you can trim it up a bit- i probably would. But good luck

They don't care what you look like. Trust me, they've most likely seen a lot worse. (Unless you never shower or anything...which I'm sure you do.)

just do what you usually do, you don't have to trim or shave if that's not what you do.

trust me I'm a nurse and ive seen just about everything and i know Dr's have seen alot more.

its normal to be nervous but just know that the dr isnt going to look at you weird for or make you feel uncomfortable

These doctors do this every day! They've seen so many they dont even care, its their job and they just want to get it done. Just think some 90 year old ladys have to get this done, thank about what theirs looks like, not pretty im sure. We're women and its just something you have to do...Good luck and don't worry about it.
