Is it ok for a student to get an internship in a consulate of a foreign country when the plan is to be a diplomat for the U.S?

  1. Usually only citizens can intern in their embassy. Then it takes years to become a diplomat. Are you into politics too?**


  2. then he's right, the fact is that embassies tend to favor interns from the country they represent, or their home country. You would be better off possibly applying to a US field or regional office in the country, or see if you could intern at a US foreign mission (consulate or embassy) abroad, although that is more difficult.
