Embassy the size of the Vatican being built in Baghdad, adding insult to injury?

It almost screams to be bombed on a weekly basis if American soldier ever left, which we know they won't.

600 million $ of wasted tax payers money in my opinion.

Heck, The Vatican is only a few hundred acres; we've got military bases in Turkey bigger than that!!!!  What's the problem?

Well, why not, If THE IRAQIS can built palaces, and now since USA  is there for a Long haul, it needs  space for its activities--- in the Middle East.

So the size , does it matter--------??

The fact that we're building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration only proves that the U.S. intends to maintain a presence in Iraq for decades - if not generations - until we've sucked all the OIL from Iraq's sands.

Halliburton is also building fourteen (yes - 14!) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq.

Bush's number-one non-military 'benchmark' is forcing the Iraqi Parliament to pass a law which will surrender over 65% of its OIL fields to private foreign oil corporations, thus eliminating Iraq's most valuable economic resource.

This is not just adding insutl to injury: this is proof positive that this unconstitutional, insane, illegal, unjustifiable, immoral war against another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States had not honorable purpose to begin with; it is - and always has been - about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING.

675,000 Iraqis and 3,800 American soldiers have given thier lives so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful.

The irony is that the new US embassy in Baghdad is the only US funded project in Iraq that will be completed.  Bush & Co. have flushed billions down the proverbial toilet for projects to 'improve' Iraq and none of them have been completed to spec. (or within budget) yet.

Does Baghdad still have regular (eg: 24/7) water and electricty service? no.  

Efforts to provide the above been successful? No, despite millions of US taxpayer dollars spent on it.

Let the bombing begin......

This has always been a point of contention. The US should make it clear why it needs 3,000 employees there, otherwise it will remain a source of suspicion by Iraq´s neighbors.

Why a country of less than 25 million people needed a US Embassy that big is a mystery to me.
