Question:

Embedded ear piercing?

I got my ears pierced at Claires on 6/28/08 (7 weeks ago). Today, my right earring was getting embedded in my lobe, so I took it out and found a big sac filled with pus and when I squeezed it pus came out of the ear piercing site. So I cleaned it out with hydrogen peroxide. Then I took out the earring in my right ear lobe, and the hole was like, tiny... it barely even looks like I got my ear pierced. I've been cleaning out my ears 2-3 times a day with the stuff they gave me, but that has nearly run out. This is really bugging me. This isn't hte first time the right ear has gotten infected, but this is definitely the worse time, so I took them out.

Is Claires not a good place to go to get your ears pierced or something?

  1. i wouldn't say claires is more or less worst than any other place... I've never gone there because i think they over charge... plus i pierce my ears myself... but i think your ear piercing is infected... the same thing happened to me... but the stud went completely into my ear... and the skin started to heal over it... i had to go the the hospital to have it removed... try using boiled water and salt (wait for the water too cool).. go to the doctors and ask them to have a look... good luck :D

  2. I got mine done at claires and it was fine.

Change your earrings to ones with bigger studs so that they don't get stuck, remember to disinfect them before you put them in.

If it continues go to claires and see what they say.

  3. Claires isn't really good for piercing, because they use piercing guns, which aren't clean, and are more likely to get infected.

    It sounds rather infected.

Take Ibruprofen for the swelling. Leave the earring in, if it hasn't closed already. It will act as a drain to get all the gunk out. And go to a proper piercer, where they'll put a longer earring in, and sort you out properly.

Doctors for antibiotics if you need them.

And stop using the bleach, and that stuff they gave you =]

The easiest way to clean them is to buy ready made saline solution, or H2Ocean.

If the piercings already closed over, you might get an abcess, which will probably have to drained by a doctor.

  4. Claires is not a good place to get your ears pierced for various reasons.

They use piercing guns, which cannot be sterilized properly for they would melt in an autoclave. So, they wipe them with hydrogen peroxide (which DOES NOT sterilize) and leaves other peoples' microbloodspray on the gun to go inside of your ear. Getting piercings at Claires put you at risk for infection, hepatitis C and other blood related diseases.

Plus, getting pierced with a gun and not a needle is causing trauma to the ear. If you get cartilage pierced there, theres a chance it will shatter.

Your piercing is infected, stop cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide! Clean it with a sea salt solution (1/8-1/4 tsp non iodized sea salt dissolved in 8 oz distilled or bottled water) and if it does not clear up, you need to see a doctor for meds.
