Embla Family Treasures and post-2006 events?

Question

I have the geneaology program Embla Family Treasures version 5.2200. It won't allow me to enter any post-2006 events (the date changes to text if I try). The company is out of business.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or if there is a fixed version anywhere out there on the web? Am I the only one with this problem?

I am considering re-entering the entire tree into a new program, but 1600 entries is a big committment...

I have never even heard of this program (little wonder that they are out of business).

If lucky, the program should allow you to export to a gedcom file. www.familysearch.org is the LDS website, that offers a free program called Personal Ancestral file.  If your program won't let you do a gedcom, re entry is your only option.

I would change over to a different program.  It could be a Windows compatibility problem.  A conflict somewhere. I have several game like that. If you have windows Vista try the compatibility wizard for an earlier version. If that does not work, try the other suggestions tht you might get.

If there are no others, save your info as a gedcom file and switch over to another program. I use PAF 5.1. I have been using this program since it was 2.0.  It works well and is never outdated. And it is free.

If you are still set on using the same program, wait until the new one comes out. I doubt the new owners will support the old versions.  You may have to brush up on your Norwegian until they have a distributor in the US again.
