Emblem meaning?

Hi I would like to know the meaning or origin of the blacksmith emblim holding a hammer about to strike an anvil. Is it a political sign? And does anyone have any references to political emblems and signs? Thank you.

  1. The original was a communist emblem representing work(ing together)...this oen is new but a take off of the original...JMO
