Embroidery?

When I embroidery...on My Janome Memory craft 9000...the pressure dial is either at 2 or 3 but yet all it embroiders is the bobbin thread, it doesnt pick up the embroidery thread. What is the tension of the thread to be set on? Please help me..I am quite frustrated.
