I want to know how much weight the school carries if i graduate from here. I just finished my first year, and 50k later I am wondering if that was really worth it. Now i'm not made of money nor does it grow in my back yard. I was wondering if there was anyone that transfered out of the school to another school. and if it was worth it. will a degree from ERAU really help me in the future as opposed to lets say Ohio State? If i were ROTC its a no brainer to stay at ERAU. but im not. I would just like some outside thoughts. any would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Ohio State has a better reputation, both in and out of aviation.  So does any state college.

  2. How much weight?

    ZERO

Airlines do not care about where your degree is from or even what it's in.  I have a B.A. in Philosophy and I've never even had to discuss it on an interview.

Save your money...ERAU is way overpriced.  You can get the same education at your local airport.  Just get a degree in something...worry about the flying afterwards.

Oh and by the way....don't become an airline pilot.  It's not the job it once was.  You're about to drop about $80,000-$100,000 so you can fly for a regional making $22,000.  Even if/when you make it to the majors....the pay is NOT there...the benefits are NOT there...and the retirement is NOT there.  Please....take it from one who's there now...don't do it.

    Good luck.

  3. i graduated from WMU, and i really dont think that anyone cares.. having a 4 year degree is what matters their name doesnt hold any weight, but they had some nice opportunities after you graduated.. Im sure ERU has similar agreements, but WMU had agreements with small regional airlines that allowed us to interview for first officer positions with minimum hours.. plus, you have great networking opportunities. i worked on the line crew at the airport and my boss is the one that got me a job with minimum hours.. he had nothing to do with flying planes but he knew a lot of people
