Emerald Wilderness and Tahaamah, the most impressive entries for the Handicap on 17th February
The S O G Finance Handicap that is to be raced over a mile and two furlongs is being held today, Friday, 17th February at the Meydan. The race has attracted a field of fourteen runners and offers a purse of £9,677 to the winner.
The candidate with the strongest credentials for the race is Emerald Wilderness, Green Desert’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Simla Bibi. He has struck a hat trick by bagging the races from 14th December 2011 till the two starts that he made through the new season.
He won the concluding race for the 2011 season, the Totepool Handicap on 14th December at Lingfield. He was the 5/2 favourite for the race.
His 2012 seasonal debut culminated in his claiming of the Marsh Green Handicap on 14th January at Lingfield. Taking the streak to a trio, Emerald Wilderness won the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Handicap on 28th January at Lingfield.
He took away the title from the 7/4 favourite of the race, Junoob.
The eight-year-old has been consistently ridden by Eddie Ahern. Besides the hat trick, he was placed second in the two races prior to the trio which implies that his performance since the last five starts has been nothing less than consistent.
Yet another capable entry into the race has come through the Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor, who is saddling the four-year-old chestnut colt, Tahaamah for the S O G Finance Handicap.
Tahaamah has been placed in the second slot during his previous three outings and has been entered as a favourite in the six out of his total eight career starts.
He came second by a neck’s difference in the Discovery Foods Stakes Handicap on 21st September 2011. The 7/4 favourite for the race, Tameen, was positioned eleventh on the field of thirteen.
On 28th September, Tahaamah was the 3/1 favourite runner up in the Free Entry For Betdaq Members Handicap and then penetrated into the 2012 season by finishing second in the Al Naboodah Travel & Tourism Handicap on 21st January.
The S O G Finance Handicap is a second start of the new season for Tahaamah while a third green for Emerald Wilderness, the prior is still to post a debut victory for the new season.
