Emeralds Spirit tipped to win Bet On British GP At totepool.com Handicap
Emeralds Spirit has a solid chance of prevailing in the Bet On British GP At totepool.com Handicap at Ayr in England on Sunday, July 8, 2012. The winning participant will be awarded a cash prize of £2,523.
The going will be soft in the 7 furlong 50 yard race, which will start at 14:30 GMT. The conditions might change before the start of action, as more rain is forecasted. However, the current circumstances suggest that Emeralds Spirit will walk away with a
comfortable victory today, as she is in good rhythm and will like the track as well.
The five-year-old mare is not new to the business and she has been in pressure situations before. She has participated in a total of 34 events, which means that the punters can have faith in her abilities.
However, the seasoned mare does not have a very good strike rate, as she has managed to win just four races in her career. Other than that, she has secured the runner up position thrice and finished third on the same number of times.
The John Weymes’ trainee made her debut in 2009 and was unable to make an impression at the start of her career. She finished sixth in her first ever outing and continued to struggle for most of the season.
The start to 2010 was also not a good one for Rock Of Gibraltar’s daughter, as she finished fifth in her first race that year. However, she improved to some extent and brought up her first ever top-three finish in the second outing of that season.
This gave a lot of confidence to Emeralds Spirit and she went onto win her maiden race in July 2010. She was one of the least favourites to shine back then, as the bookies had given her a starting price of 50 to 1. She proved them wrong though and fought
her way to the top by two and a half lengths.
Since then, T. A. Scothern’s owned runner has given some decent performances, but there have been ups and downs in her career. She finished fifth in her previous outing, but was victorious in the penultimate run. Her partner today will be seasoned jockey,
Paul Mulrennan.
