Question:

Emergency Geography Help!?

by  |  earlier

My geography higher GCSE exam paper 1 on the AQA board is tomorrow.

I'm really REALLY stressed about it.

I need to know how to work out the latitude of a place. the question I came across was:

"Give the latitude for the isle of portland".

I would also like to know what are nappes and how exactly are they formed.

And, if anyone can as a bonus, exam advice because I need help so I can calm down.

Thank you so much in advance :) This will be great help.

And good luck to anyone who is sitting the same exam, or any exams for that matter.

  1. a decent bath with radox in works everytime and try it!

  2. calm , i don't realy understand but are they asking that because it is the southerly extent of Britain and a few degreees west of Greenwich , so you ought to know ( which i have duly forgotten ) a sort of trick question as you ought to know the latitudes of Britain . 50 to 60 approx.

calm and you will pass , you know you are just worying and about others too, go for a walk .

  3. Take deep breaths (the deepest you can take) with your eyes closed.  When you exhale, be sure to make a conscious effort to "let go" of your muscle tension which might be stuck in your shoulders, back, etc.

    Latitude: 50° 30' 51" N (deg min sec), 50.5142° (decimal), 5030.85N (LORAN)

  4. What she said.

Overall, just relax and do your best. No-one can have a go if you have done your best, even if a bad mark is the result

    good luck

  5. Hello :)

I'm doing a Geography GSCE exam tomorrow, except on the OCR exam board.

Latitude is the distance north or south of the equator in degrees and minutes. I think they'll ask you to read off one of the diagrams in the source booklet you get.

A nappe is a large sheetlike body of rock that has been moved from its original position because of continental plate collisions. When tectonic plates collide, huge forces causing the rock to fold and bucklewhen folds.. Nappe specifically are moved so much that they fold back over on themselves and break apart.

Exam advice: Try and relax. When you go in, try and not think of the end result (your grade).. Instead just concentrate on the questions and hopefully you'll relax into it. And also, a positive attitude always helps!

Answering this has helped me to revise too so thank you! Good luck in your exam, I hope you get the grade you want.

    :)

  6. To handle stress , take short breaks from revising about 10 mis for every hour of revision. plus exercise regullary eat and sleep wellemind yourself that it will all be over after tommoro.

by the way i am in year 8 and have my end of year exams comming up next week and i just follow these steps and if you worry more it will be hard for you to concentrate and give it your best!

    good luck
