Question:

Emergency Leave for the Army.?

My husband is currently in BCT, he has been told by his superiors that he will be allowed to take Emergency Leave for the birth of our daughter because of the high risk in the pregnancy. Since he is in Basic Training I am not able to communicate with him enough to get much information out of him. So my question is... When on Leave for an Emergency, does the Army pay for the plane fair or does it come out of your pocket up front? If you know the date of the flight is it smart to book it on-line without a refund (it happens to be cheaper this way) any suggestions? Has anyone ever been in this position?

  1. Emergency leave is only granted when there is a death in the immediate family only.

He'll be paying thairfare unless he is lucky enough to catch a military hopp.

  2. The air lines have a deal for this kinda of thing I have used it before back in 1979, now with the cost of fuel you my have to call around now to find one that still does this and contact the Red Cross they may have something to help. Good Luck on Both the Flight and especially the Birth.

  3. its on you to pay for the flight home.  He can try Standby, it will be less expensive than trying to buy a ticket  within 2 weeks. but far more chance of him not being able to get a flight as well.

I assume you are having a scheduled C section?  typically EL doesn't start until the ARC message comes through.  .

  4. u need to contact the american red cross on that also contact the base commander where he is training at

  5. fare!

He has to pay his own way!

The Red Cross or Army Emergency Relief can assist!

  6. You pay the air fare yourself.

But I have never heard of emergency leave, for a birth.

Just how could you book the flight ahead of time, when you have no idea, what day or time, he would be able to fly?
