Emergency Medical Technician in Saskatchewan?

Is anyone here an EMT or Primary Care Paramedic in SK?

1.) What is the job market like? How easy was it to get a job? Would you say that your job is in demand? Where would you search for PCP jobs? Do you generally get hired by the province, or does anyone here work in the private sector?

2.) General pay range and hours?

3.) Do you need anything other than a Class 5 license?

I am a Pre-Med student looking for a job while in school. I want to know if it's worth taking the EMT course, so I can work as a Paramedic while in school.

  1. You are correct - not an easy question to get an answer to here.  I can answer only a part of your question.  You will need more than a Class 5 license - that license is for regular vehicles, but you will need the next level of qualification so that you can drive an ambulance.

My son in law used to work as a paramedic in SK and they came back to Ontario because the opportunities and money were better.  But if you just want the job to help pay for school that is a different situation.  He says that it would be worthwhile.  Best of luck with your plans.
