Question:

Emergency Study Tips Please!!?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I have an Ancient History exam on Tuesday and also an Advanced English exam and a Science (involving chemistry, physics, meteorology and biology) exam on Wednesday. I have started studying but I don't feel I will be ready for the exams.

Does anybody know extremely productive ways of studying to help me remember things efficiently?

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew

  1. Relax.  Staying calm is a really good way to boost your scores. Also, don't study a subject the night before its test, or im people who are studying.  That will just stress you out.

To study for Ancient History, I would recommending taking all your notes and reading through them like a book, and highlight/underline as you go.  Also, try and explain things to yourself--ask yourself questions like "what was the most important contribution of the ancient Romans?  Why?  How did it affect the world? Who came up with it?  How?  Why was it invented during that time--was there some factor that made it especially worthwhile?"  Basically, you want to force yourself to think through and analyze the material.

For the Science exam, if you have to do calculations, then do LOTS of problems, and explain them to yourself as you work.  For theory stuff, do the same thing you did for History--ask yourself questions and force yourself to analyze stuff.

For English, I'm not sure...if you have to write an essay, think about what books or stories you're reading and try to come up with topics that make sense.  Then, for as many as you can, outline the essays.  It'll make you think about the books.  If it's just about a book you read, then (gasp) try sparknotes or wikipedia for a detailed summary--it will probably remind you of the more specific plot points.

  2. I would recommend taking all the practice tests you can get your hands on, and then based on your results to those you can pick some of your weaker topics and study those.

Make sure that when you take your practice tests, you simulate the full testing conditions accurately (i.e. don't take breaks or allow yourself extra time). This is annoying, but it will only help you when it comes time to take the real test.

Also, make sure you get a lot of rest, including the nights leading up to the exam.

    Good luck.. Andrew!
