Emergency! What does antifreeze look and smell like?

My cat just came in the room and he had some clear gooey stuff hanging out of his mouth.

I wiped it off and noticed that his gums were blood red

it smells kind of sweet, but also kindof gross, is it antifreeze? how much would it take to kill a medium sized cat?

I'm no expert, but if its from a leaking car then it might be brake fluid.

whats your cat doing going into your car popping the hood and drinking your antifreeze

sounds like a drug habit...

any amount will kill.. its green or pink even brown you have a leak on car.. its sweet smeel draws all animals not much can be done

When in doubt, take the cat to the vet!  Engine coolant does have a sweet smell and taste, due to the ethylene glycol it contains, and most coolant is green in color.

anti-freeze looks green and smells sweet. you said red? its probably transmission fluid.

the clear gooey stuff isn't antifreeze -- it's usually the color of lemon-lime gatorade, but some cars use a different kind that looks more like orange flavored gatorade.  it does have a bit of a sweet smell.  won't take much to kill a cat.
