Emergency help! please i feel helpless?

My brother, some friends and I were in a terrible car accident where we ended up in a water ditch, we are lucky to be alive, it was a crazy freak accident, but my bro the driver doesnt have any health insurance. We are all lucky to be alive, but what can my brother do? His car insurance said they cannot help him out on his medical bills because it was his fault, and the bills keep racking up for towing, holding his car there, the medical bills, tickets given because of the accident, we are looking at like bills ending up on the thousands. Any advice? I feel helpless. Is there something he can do to atleast have his medical bills paid? As well as school bills coming up for his college tuition and stuff, i just feel like he is gonna go crazy. : ( He has a job which offers him health insurance ... he just hadnt signed the paper work for it yet. PLEASE help.. i just feel so bad for him and wish there was something he could do.

Hospitals often forgive debts -

There are forms to fill out - for tax statements - if you qualify so much will be forgiven.

If the accident was another drivers fault, he COULD sue for his medical bills. But usually, if you don't have medical coverage, you're screwed

Just get him the care he needs right now.  Don't worry about bills.  His health is more important.  

This is actually more common than you think.  One of several things may happen.  The hospital may reduce or forgive the bills, a state or local agency may step in and pay, his job's insurance may agree to give retroactive coverage, or whatever.  Worst comes to worst, he'll have to make monthly installment payments to pay it off.  But yeah, like you said you're lucky to be alive, so don't stress too much.  Things will work out one way or another.
