Emergency help while abroad

I just need to know, while I'm abroad and if my wallet was stolen, how does the EMERGENCY LOAN APPLICATION through the government work. It says that they help you contact your family, and employer to wire you funds. But what happens if that isn't an option. I need to return to the US, but have absolutely no money

  1. Go to the US Consulate or Embassy and explain your problem.  They may be able to help  you.

  2. As soon as you arrive in a foreign country, register with the US embassy there.  They might take a copy of your passport, or it might be as simple as a phone call, depending on where you travel to.

If you are robbed or if your wallet and/or documents are misplaced, contact them immediately.  They will assist you in getting back home safely.

Also, make copies of your travel documents and credit cards.  Keep copies with you and leave a copy or two back at home with someone you trust.  If anything happens, you'll be able to cancel your credit cards and have a copy of your passport available.

    Hope this helps.
