Emergency on visas. HELP?

Well heres the situation. My parents have abused me for years and I'm 14 and finally I'm gonig to live with relatives in Sri Lanka. Well now I need a visa to enterthe country so I sent my passport and veerything in the mail on Monday to the embassy in washington D.C. so they can issue the visa and I want it by like next week. Do es anyone know how long it takes before any embassy in D.C. sends it back. Please help I need to know this so I ccan book the ticket and get out of my house. Please help me

  1. It honestly depends on the embassy, as every embassy follows the rules of its country. If you call them and are very polite about explaining your situation (seriously, this is one of those occasions where kissing up is perfectly acceptable), they might be willing to speed things up a bit. They will certainly tell you how long the wait list is, and you might even be able to find out in advance if you're missing any crucial paperwork that could slow down your application.


  2. It will probably be several weeks unless you alerted the embassy you need it expedited. There are many embassies in D.C.  Give it another week and contact the embassy you sent it to by E-mail or telephone for a status report.

  3. Forget it!
