my mom lost her VERY valuable diamond stud in our lawn. I need to find a place that rents metal detectors & i need it today. Please, please help me. And the rental needs to me in will or cook county illinois. I need the companys name and phone number. (A website would be nice too) Please help. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you can rent one. Radio Shack sells them at a reasonable price. You are probably better off buying one.

in the time it took you to post this question you could have been looking through the online yellow pages or some other online directory to find a local place where you can rent a metal detector.........silly goose!

You could get a very large magnet and hold it over the lawn

My father used to own a re-upholstery shop and they had this thing that was a big magnet on wheals that you just rolled around on the floor to pick up stray tacks and staples. Perhaps if there is a re-upholstery shop or an upholstery shop near you, you may be able to barrow one from them....you could offer them a rental fee. It's a tool that they use at the end of the day and they don't use it every day so I don't think it would be a big deal for them to loan it out to you for a day or so.

If you have lost a diamond, I suggest using a flash light as this should reflect back when you lloking for it.

I magnet or something would pick a metal object.

since i have no idea where to find a metal detector rental store, you could try this.

Take a flash light outside ( it would be better to wait untill tonight ) and go up and down in rows untill you see a flash or glisten.
