the other day i was driving along and i saw an ambulance behind me so i pulled over to the side of the road, the car directly behind me didnt and passed me and kept driving with the ambulance right behind for quite awhile, how come car manufacturers don't install a receiver with a alarm that cuts out the radio and says emergency vehicle be alert, and have all emergency cars broadcast a signal that triggers the alarm in cars? idk i could help save lives vy allowing them to get places quicker and have the public be aware and cautious

  1. that is a good idea

  2. The cost would raise the vehicles price and vehicles are too expensive anyway, but it is a good idea.

  3. Super idea . But it will have to be force-fed to the motoring public . And the cost of developing and installing such a device would have to be added to the already high cost of the vehicle . About the only time you can expect to see such a device is when the vehicle is 'driver-less' - meaning a fully automatic vehicle . Perhaps in about 30-40 years.

    All the best.

  4. One big reason that car manufacturers don't do that is because the consumer does not want it.  Laws would have to be passed requiring this to be on cars.  Even then, making sure that even aftermarket car stereos have this customization would be hard.  This is not a bad idea though.  There are just some problems in making it a reality.
