The opening day of the proceeding fixture between New Zealand A and South Africa Emerging Players came to its closure after the former wrapped up the session, scoring 17 runs with a loss of a single wicket. The 3-Day match came as part of the ongoing Emerging
Players Tournament and was being played at the Endeavour Park, Townsville, on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
The game took off after South Africa Emerging Players Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Wilson-c1187.
Offering a slow start, the pair began the batting session earning some fair runs but failed to engage into a partnership after Wilson made an early return to the pavilion at 11 after being caught out off Kyle Abbott’s delivery.
One down batsman and team skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Flynn-c1309 was also declared out off Obus Pienaar’s delivery after a few more runs into the game.
With two swift wickets already lost, the much troubled New Zealand batting side saw hope as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 came out to join Nicol.
The newly formed pair managed to bring a halt to the wicket loss and took on some impressive batting stance by creating a solid footing on the crease, earning some quick numbers for the team.
The pair went on to add a 62 runs contribution to the team following which the duo failed to go on after the South African bowlers delivered another quick blow securing two successive wickets by the time the side earned the 120 runs mark.
Nicol was first to the leave the crease off O’Reilly’s delivery. The player served a notable time at the crease securing 55 runs including 4 boundaries and a couple sixes.
Three down batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Broom-c2090 followed Nicol after marking his return on a disappointing naught.
The session was the proceeded by the lower middle order, who managed to offer an impressive run with the bat earning some adequate sums to the team’s total.
It was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Woodcock-c1860 who managed to aid New Zealand in recovering from its wicket loss. However, following Kitchen’s dismissal Woodcock too was forced to exit the crease after a successful Leg before Wicket appeal off O’Reilly’s delivery.
After producing some constructive batting for the team, Woodcock returned after falling 4 runs off a half ton.
With another wicket secured by the South African bowlers, the Kiwis finally declared the batting session at an adequate 382 runs, following a loss of 7 wickets.
As for the South African response the team took off with a troubling start after losing opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Reeza-Hendricks-c2304 retaining his stumps, the day was finally wrapped up with South Africa Emerging Players earning 17 runs with a loss
of single wicket.
