The opening day of the proceeding fixture between New Zealand A and South Africa Emerging Players came to its closure after the former wrapped up the session, scoring 17 runs with a loss of a single wicket. The 3-Day match came as part of the ongoing Emerging
Players Tournament and was being played at the Endeavour Park, Townsville, on Thursday, August 11, 2011.

Offering a slow start, the pair began the batting session earning some fair runs but failed to engage into a partnership after Wilson made an early return to the pavilion at 11 after being caught out off Kyle Abbott’s delivery.

The newly formed pair managed to bring a halt to the wicket loss and took on some impressive batting stance by creating a solid footing on the crease, earning some quick numbers for the team.
The pair went on to add a 62 runs contribution to the team following which the duo failed to go on after the South African bowlers delivered another quick blow securing two successive wickets by the time the side earned the 120 runs mark.
Nicol was first to the leave the crease off O’Reilly’s delivery. The player served a notable time at the crease securing 55 runs including 4 boundaries and a couple sixes.
